Bowness High School music students and BHS Music Parents Association will host a bottle drive in the Valley Ridge community this Saturday, October 24th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

We are asking music students and their friends and families to support the bottle drive by signing up through the link. We invite all BHS families to come out and support the BHS Music students by dropping off your bottles, cans, and refundables on Saturday, October 24th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m, at the parking lot near the Valley Ridge Outdoor Rink (170 Valley Meadow Close NW). If you live in that community, watch for students coming door-to-door to collect bottles. The bottle drive allows students to earn money for their music costs and support the music program.

Halloween is just around the corner! On Friday, October 30, students are encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit by wearing costumes to school. We look forward to seeing their creativity and enthusiasm! While we encourage students to have fun and express themselves, we want to remind families that Halloween costumes must still meet school expectations for appropriate dress and maintaining a safe, respectful learning environment.

 ·         Appropriate Attire: Costumes must provide appropriate coverage and be suitable for a school environment. Halloween is not an exception to our regular expectations for student dress.

 ·         No Weapons: Realistic or imitation weapons of any kind are not permitted. This includes toy guns, knives, swords, or other items that could be mistaken for weapons.

 ·         No Drugs, Alcohol or Associated Paraphernalia: Costumes and accessories must not include or depict drugs, alcohol, vaping products, or related paraphernalia, whether real or imitation.

 ·         Faces Must Be Visible: Students must remain readily identifiable at all times. Masks, face coverings, or makeup that significantly obscures a student's identity are not permitted.

 ·         Respectful: Costumes must not contain offensive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate imagery, language, or themes.

 ·         Learning Comes First: Costumes must not interfere with classroom activities or the learning environment.

Students whose costumes do not meet these expectations may be asked to remove or modify parts of their costume or change into more appropriate clothing. Our goal is to ensure that Halloween remains a fun, inclusive, and safe experience for everyone at Bowness High School. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing some fantastic costumes!
